Mist eliminators can be coupled with other equipment to create multi-functioning assemblies. Fans and damper closures can be mounted to mist eliminators to cool the space and shut off air flow in case of a fire.
Many builders now incorporate mist eliminators with damper closures which shut in conjunction with the fire suppression system. This allows the fire retardant to effectively snuff out a fire without allowing more fresh air in the space to fuel the fire.
Cooling fans are also a very useful option on a mist eliminating system. Fans can be mounted with or without damper closures. Typically, there are matched intake and exhaust fans, which create a constant flow of ambient air to keep the engine space cool while not effecting the engine room depression, or “stealing” combustion air from the engines.
