Mist eliminators are usually secured by screwing through the mounting flanges of the unit to the mounting surface of the boat.
It is very important that the mounting flanges of the mist eliminator be sealed to the boat with some sort of marine caulk or sealant. Gaskets are not recommended. If there is not a continuous bead of sealant between the mist eliminator mounting flange and the mounting surface of the boat, water will likely seep out of the void and enter the engine room. It should be noted that the sealant used should not strongly adhere the mist eliminator to the boat in the event that the unit would be removed in the future.
Screws should be evenly placed every six to eight inches apart along the mist eliminator mounting flange. Screws should not be placed at the extreme corner of the mounting flange, as cracks in the mounting flange could result.
