Bottom draining mist eliminators are the most efficient at eliminating salt mist and spray. They are typically mounted from the interior of the boat in a plenum box. The moist air enters the boat through an exterior grill, then passes down to the mist eliminator. The plenum box must be sealed so that the air must pass through the mist eliminator to enter the engine room. Water is drained out the bottom drain slots of the mist eliminator and into the plenum box. There must be adequate drainage from the plenum box to the exterior of the boat so that water does not accumulate and flood the mist eliminator. We recommend a minimum two inch drain, with multiple drains for box lengths over 60 inches.
